Games, music, prizes and puppies will be spread across the University of Toledo’s Centennial Mall on April 20 from 1-3 p.m. The fifth-Annual Student Appreciation Day, put on by UT’s Division of Student Affairs, plans to celebrate UT’s students and their importance to the university.

There will be free food at the event such as walking tacos, kettle corn, cotton candy and cookies, as well as drinks. UT’s campus radio station, WXUT, will be spinning everyone’s favorite tunes.

Organizations will be there to promote their own upcoming events, such as Alpha Kappa Psi’s A Fashion Affair and UT Campus Activities and Programming’s concert with Hoodie Allen. Campus sports apparel store Rocky’s Locker will also be there selling UT-themed apparel.

Students can enter to win a large variety of prizes, including bookbags, laptop bags, survival kits, gift cards and UT apparel. The ever-popular pedal cars will make a return visit for students to enjoy racing their friends, along with inflatables to bring out your inner child.

Also as a part of Student Appreciation Day, students can alleviate their finals week stress with canine friends from the Toledo Area Humane Society. Doggypalooza will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Centennial Mall.

The Division of Student Affairs believes the event will be a great way to start off the spring and brighten students’ spirits. Kaye Patten, senior vice-president of student affairs, said that this will give her office the “opportunity to let students know they are important.”
